Memorabilia: Rocky Marciano's 1953 "Sports Father of the Year" Award -
Awarded to Rocky by the National Father's Day Committee, which was formed in
1926 and recognized by a Joint Resolution of Congress in 1956. This
dates the medal 3 years prior to the official holiday of Father's Day and less
than 1 year after Rocky's historic September 23, 1952 fight with Jersey Joe Walcott. Beautiful
high-relief obverse design featuring a bust of George Washington and a stars/stripes
background. Great patina and in excellent mint/extremely fine condition with
some expected high-point wear for a 50+ year old sterling silver metal. Made and
marked by Dieges & Clust, and originally purchased from Odyssey Auctions
(now part of Heritage Galleries). Measures approximately
1-1/4" in diameter.
Rocky Marciano is the only undefeated heavyweight champion of the 20th
century. Don't miss this chance to own one of Rocky's personal mementos and a
piece of Father's Day history! < Photos > Reverse |

1920's Studio Photograph measuring 8" x 10" that has been inscribed,

exceptional shot of Dempsey on this matt finish double-weight photograph.

corner, three light creases on right side of photo that do not affect the
signature or central image, with
old tape residue on reverse top/bottom of photo. JSA authenticated. < Photos > Signature / JSA Letter |

Memorabilia: Vintage Autographed Max Schmelling Postcard Authenticated by PSA/DNA
- Great
vintage photo by Bryant of Schmelling as the "Leading Heavyweight Contender",
which dates this postcard to the1920s since Max was heavyweight champ from
1930-32. Max's first fight with Joe Louis was a win, but Louis destroyed
him in the rematch. Hitler's propaganda also played into these fights
which adds additional historical significance. Beautiful, early fountain
pen signature. Postcard is near-mint (NR-MT) except for the lower left
corner, which has a small section of the top photo layer folded over (probably
done by PSA when inserting the postcard into the soft plastic holder since the
displaced piece is still there). Great piece of boxing and political history.

Baseball:
c1920s NY Yankees, Aaron Ward Game Used Bat -
Ward
played for the Yankees from 1917-1928 and also played in the first
three Yankee's World Series (1921, 1922 and 1923 - hit homers in two of them).
Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig were both teammates and this era basically started the Yankee
dynasty. Ward ultimately
lost his job to future Hall of Famer, Tony Lazzeri. Bold markings with
nice patina. Cracked (see
photos) and repaired with vintage nails as certified by Mears. This is
the only Ward bat ever handled by Mears. Don't miss a chance
to own a piece of Yankees history at a fraction of the price of a Ruth or
Gerhig game used bat! < Photos > Label Front Top Back Bottom End1 End2 Cert1 Cert2 Stats |

Baseball:
c1920s Official American League Baseball Autographed by Umpire E.T. (Red)
Ormsby - A
rare American League Baseball in excellent mint condition. Beautiful red
and blue stitching with a light, even overall toning to the baseball.
Baseballs from this era are extremely had to find and almost impossible to
come by in this condition. Fountain pen signature on the sweet spot is light, but
completely readable. After a controversial call made against the White
Sox, a female baseball fan yelled from the stands, "You blind bum! If
you were my husband, I'd give you poison." Ormsby turned toward her, politely
bowed, and replied,
"Madam, if you were my wife, I'd take it!" A rare Reach made baseball in
beautiful condition with some interesting history. < Photos > Signature Commissioner Panel |
