Haskins Hoylake 27-1/2 - c1890s, An extremely rare line-cut black gutty golf ball. One is referenced by "Golf in the Making - Henderson/Stirk" as being part of the Wood Collection. Almost void of any paint except for a few flecks and a few strikes slightly affect the roundness of the ball, but ball marks don't crack the surface. Beautiful black glossy patina showing a lot of Victorian antique golfing character. Poles are nicely marked, but show some wear. Arthur Haskins was a maker of golf balls/clubs and had a shop in Hoylake. Hoylake is also home of the Royal Liverpool Golf Club ( www.royal-liverpool-golf.com ) and will host the 2006 British Open Championship. Certificate of authenticity (COA) from Sean Arnold (London). < Photos > Pole2 / Side1 / Side2 / Side3 / Side4 / COA1 / COA2 |
