Description of Item

Price

1860 Abraham Lincoln of Illinois. Dewitt AL 1860-18, King-16. White metal, 38 mm EF+ - Lustrous silver gray with a sandblast finish quality and light peripheral toning. Minor abrasion on Lincoln's jaw noted for accuracy, bold strike and excellent detail. Accomplished by Benjamin True and signed by him beneath the truncation of Lincoln's bust. Another desirable Lincoln item. From Stack's sale of the Gilbert Steinberg Collection, May 1992, Lot 316.

SOLD

1860 Abram Lincoln / National Liberty Sectional Slavery. Dewitt AL 1860-37, King-34. White metal, perhaps silvered, 31 mm. AU - Bright silvery lustre on reflective surfaces. Some light fading in fields, only minor abrasions, especially choice reverse. An interesting and popular medalet focusing on the most famous issue of the Election of 1860, slavery. Far finer than the 1992 Steinberg specimen. A fine Lincoln medal worthy of a well-chosen cabinet of political or historical issues.

SOLD

1860 Abraham Lincoln / Railsplitter of the West. Dewitt AL 1860-41, King-38. Brass, 28 mm. Mint State - Holed. Lustrous golden olive-tan with some light surface toning and impeccable eye appeal. Some light woodgraining, faint hairlines noted under scrutiny. One of the best designed tokens of the 1860 election, featuring a long Ellis bust of Lincoln on the obverse and an appealing scene of Lincoln, shirt sleeves rolled, chopping wood with a log cabin in the background. A fine depiction of the classic early Lincoln.

SOLD

1860 Abraham Lincoln / Freedom National Slavery Sectional. Dewitt AL 1860-55, King-52. Brass, 26 mm. AU - Pleasing glossy deep olive-brown with some deep brassy undertones. Very attractive, some light surface verdigris. An attractive large-cent sized medalet from Knox & Lang of Worcester, Massachusetts calling for a compromise stance on slavery, a prime plank of the 1860 Republican platform.
