Item: Leather Belt and Keeper Age: Civil War Era Size: Keeper Width - 55mm, Keeper Opening - 15mm x 8mm Length of Leather (Open) - 42", Length of Leather (Hook/Eyelet Engaged) - 33" Description: Black-dyed leather is in remarkable shape for its age and the leather is still pliable, but prefers the coiled shape as pictured. The flat side of each rivet, which helps to hold the keeper in place, is decorated with a raised star. Slight crazing to the surface, a man-made eyelet near the fold-over, three small lines that barely break the surface to form what resembles an "H", along with some verdigris on the brass are the only minor problems worth mentioning. Would make a great Civil War display piece on its own or if you have an 1851 model belt plate that fits. The belt is pictured on the cover of the 2000 edition of "The Civil War Collector's Price Guide".
